Spring came to Flowergarden. The sun warmed with its rays, birds sang their wonderful songs, flowers blossomed and green buds decorated the trees.
Evsei came back home in good humour. He got a high mark in Geography and was very satisfied with himself.
“Well done, Evsei!” said his foster-mother, having known about Evsei`s success. “Are you hungry, sonny?”
“No, I`m not thanks”, Evsei answered. “By the way, mum, you never told me about your acquaintance with dad. Can you tell about it, please?”
“Oh, it`s a long story”, Ademi smiled. “But sit down, my boy. I`ll tell you.”
And Elena began her story. It was very interesting and fascinating. If you want, my friends, I also can tell you this fairy-tale.
And so, many years ago Turat, an inhuman and imperious king, ruled Flowergarden. He lived in the White Palace, which was built of marble and was surrounded with a high wall. King Turat had a magic ring. With the help of it the king gave orders to a large dragon, inhabiting the underground hall of the palace. The dragon was an ugly monster. It had three bear heads with antlers, long shaggy ears and the snake`s tail. It eyes were red and body was covered with scales.
People, who did not support Turat and his unjust laws, were caught by the king`s soldiers and were led to the underground hall, where the dragon ate them. Nobody could conquer the terrible monster and the citizens of Flowergarden, people, birds, beasts and fishes, lived in constant fear.
King Turat had a seventeen-year-old daughter who was called Ademi. She was the most beautiful and kindest girl of the kingdom. This dark-haired, swarthy beauty tried to soften her cruel father, but she could not always do it.
One day Ademi took a walk in a garden, which was near the palace, and accidentally met Sviatoslav, a handsome young man. He was from a poor family and worked at one of the schools as a teacher. Ademi and Sviatoslav fell in love with each other at first sight. They began to meet, but soon their meetings ended. A malicious monkey named Toady, which was the king`s jester, spied upon Ademi and Sviatoslav. It informed Turat against the lovers, and he flew into a rage.
“Lead my daughter to me!” the king ordered to his servants.
When Ademi came to the main hall and bowed her father, Turat said with indignation,
“How did you dare to deceive me and to meet with a poor man? Don`t forget that you are of noble origin and our royal dynasty governs this country for five centuries. This teacher is unworthy of you. You disgraced your ancestors and me!”
“But I love him, dad”, Ademi objected. “I can`t live without him and it isn`t important for me that he is poor.”
“You`ll be sorry for these words!” the king shouted, having stood up from his throne. “Your lover, this teacher, will be caught and led to dragon. And you will live in a high tower under lock and key.”
After in the tower the door of Ademi`s room was locked with a key, the poor girl burst into sobbing. She thought that her life came to an end, but then she was in control of herself and wrote a note to Sviatoslav. A pigeon, which sympathized with the young people, brought the note to him.
Having read the message, Sviatoslav understood that he ran a risk of his life. In tears he took his things quickly and ran away from Flowergarden.

The journey of Sviatoslav was long and lasted for a month. The way led him to a beautiful green valley with a waterfall and a swift river. Sviatoslav took a seat on the bank. The weather was fine and the place was shady, but the youth did not notice it. He was very unhappy and thought about Elena and his motherland, which he left.
All of a sudden he heard a voice: “Don`t be sad, Sviatoslav! Your wishes will come true.”
Sviatoslav turned round and saw a red deer.
“But how do you know my name?” he asked confusedly.
The deer burst out laughing and turned into a beautiful young woman with fair hair.
“I`m Fairy Vevea”, she said. “My crystal ball told me about the events in Flowergarden. I can help you to win a victory over King Turat and to free your lover. But at first you must promise that when you become the president of Flowergarden you will rule the country justly and will take care of common people.”
“Of course, I promise.” Sviatoslav answered without reflection.
“Very well. And now come to me nearer”, said Vevea, and then she pronounced a spell: “Bevel-terel, sovel-krovel, notel-lotel.”
After these words Sviatoslav looked like a medirval knight. The young man sat on an iron horse, he had silver coat of mail and helmet on and held steel shield and sword in his hands.
“The iron horse, your coat of mail, helmet and arms are magic“, the fairy told. “They will protect you from the dragon`s fire and will help you to conquer it. Good luck to you, Sviatoslav! I believe in your victory.”

Thanks to the magic horse Sviatoslav came to Flowergarden in a few days. There he gathered a detachment from forty men and they all went to the White Palace.
“Tell your king that I and my people will take the palace by storm”, Sviatoslav said to the guard. “However he has a chance to surrender or to leave Flowergarden.”
When a servant informed King Turat about Sviatoslav`s demand, Toady, his jester, said with flattery,
“Sir, these people are idiots. It`s impossible to conquer such great king as you.”
“Yes, you are right, Toady”, Turat agreed. “My dragon will tear to pieces these insolent fellows.” - And with the help of his magic ring the king ordered to the dragon to kill Sviatoslav and his people.
While uttering its dreadful sounds the terrible monster went to Sviatoslav`s detachment and threw out the fire. However the fire was reflected by Sviatoslav`s shield and burnt the dragon. It squealed in pain and began to beat the ground by its tail. At the same time Sviatoslav came galloping to the dragon and threw his sword to a mouth of the monster. It staggered and fell in a dead faint.

Having seen that the dragon is dead, the most of Turat`s soldiers and servants surrendered and the others were caught by Sviatoslav`s people. But nobody could find the king and Toady. They got frightened for their lives and ran away from Flowergarden.
After the battle Sviatoslav went to the tower. He broke open the door and ran into Ademi`s room.
“I knew you would come back”, the girl was happy and embraced Sviatoslav.
“My love, will you marry me?” the young man asked.
“Yes, I will, my dear.” - And they kissed with tenderness.
Soon Sviatoslav and Ademi married. All people, birds and beasts of Flowergarden were during their wedding. After a month the citizens of the country elected Sviatoslav their first president. And Fairy Vevea, who moved to Flowergarden, always helped him in his good deeds.
