Pishpek hotel was one of the wonderful works of Kyrgyzstan’s architecture of the Soviet period. The five-storied building, erected in the city of Frunze (now Bishkek) in 1975, was located in the crossing of Erkindik avenue and Moskovskaya street. The architects G. Kutateladze, V. Lyzenko, R. Muhamediev, engineer P. Voloshina, artist A.Onufrienko worked on the project of Pishpek hotel. Monolithic ferro-concrete framework of the building could stand a magnitude 9 earthquake. Original mosaic panel picture decorated main entrance to the hotel; fauna and flora were shown in the décor of inside yard. Granite, marble, limestone and wood were used in the building’s ornamentation.

  In the early 2000s the hotel stood empty and was in bad condition. Inspite of Pishpek hotel, as Ala Too hotel, was one of the capital’s cultural sights and its creators were well-known architects (for example, G. Kutateladze was a chief architect of Frunze), the building was struck off from the list of local architectural monuments. In 2009-2010 Pishpek hotel was reconstructed and reorganized in Orion business centre. As a result, the building lost its distinctive art decoration and individual peculiarities.

  In this part we offer black and white reconstruction of two panel pictures, which decorated main entrance and inside yard of Pishpek hotel. A few keeping photographs of the works of decorative art became the basis for this reconstruction.
